The tryout schedule for all divisions is at the bottom of this page:

A reminder for tryouts, please bring:
** Correct size basketball (all girls division + boys 4th-6th grade play with 28.5″; boys 7th and 8th grade play with 29.5″). Please write your name or initials somewhere on the basketball!
** A signed release form (available at the top of our home page).
** A water bottle.

If you have played travel basketball before, please do not wear your uniform jersey to tryouts. Uniform shorts, tournament t-shirts, etc. are fine.

REMEMBER Your son/daughter MUST be a full time resident of Acton or Boxborough and/or student at one of the Acton-Boxborough public schools to tryout for an Acton-Boxborough team. If you have a question about eligibility, please email Josh Hammer at

While we want players to be at both tryouts, if you have a conflict one week, it’s fine if you have to miss one of the two sessions. That said, it’s tough for us to consider anyone for a select team if they cannot make either tryout due to conflicts with other sports (regardless of past participation). We do ask that you prioritize attendance to basketball tryouts for at least one of the two weekends.

These days are pretty busy with one tryout session ending and another immediately starting. It’s not a good day for kids to be hanging out in the gym all day. We ask that you be prompt in drop offs and pick ups.

Can parents stay to observe? We don’t recommend it but if you want to, it’s fine. But again, these are busy sessions. We also need to use all six baskets in the gym so it’s unlikely the bleachers will be out for seating. We ask that if you are in the gym during tryouts you please stay off to the side and avoid interacting with the coaches or players during the tryout.

Players will be notified if they are selected for a team by the Monday evening after the second tryout. The fee for the balance of the season ($300) plus any uniform costs will be due by the Friday after the second tryout.

If you have any questions on tryouts, you may email Dee Biggs ( for boys basketball. For girls basketball, you may email Ben Smith ( or Megan Kivela (
